Random thoughts by katrina call

Three things I just keep thinking about lately.

1. How on earth does a very small little baby increase the laundry by 100 times? I just don't get it!

2. How does a 3 week old know when I am sitting or standing. The second I stand up the crying stops, the second I sit it starts. Amazing!

3. How come my children have so much energy when we are at the grocery store, a restaurant, or even at home making a mess, but the second it is time to clean up they are just way to tired and can't I see that their arms and legs are just so small and need a rest?

sledding

Finally enough snow to sled! We love sledding. Lorenzo was as crazy as ever (like always) and was going down alone, with Izzy on top of him, head first, etc. Esperanza was even brave enough this year to go alone. It was great! Nothing like a good spray of snow in the face to brighten the day.

She finally arrived

Well, I finally had the baby at 41 weeks. We love her and we think she is just too cute. Especially my children. They really, really, really love her and are so, so, so, so helpful. No wonder she didn't want to come out. Maybe she had an idea of what it would be like to be manhandled :). She was 8 lbs 12 oz and 21 1/2 inches long.

The Haunted Hospital

I think I may have had a small lapse of parenting judgement. Lorenzo has been begging to go to a haunted house and the haunted hospital in Tooele just opened up. Last weekend Esperanza was having a sleep over and Lorenzo just kept begging. So we decided to take him. He invited his good friend and cousin Zane who is 9 to go with him. My boy thinks he is way older then 3. I probably should have had some reservations when he told me on the way that he wasnt three anymore but almost nine like zane. Anyways those haunted houses are scary. I hadn't been to one since I was in high school and forgot how creepy they are. I do have to say though that I have a very brave son. He made it through and he didn't cry and even wanted to go again after, but I think we better wait a few years before we do that again.

Oh what do you do with a three year old

Since Esperanza just started preschool it has been great fun to spend alone time with Lorenzo.  I am pretty sure he lives in a dream world.  It is so amazing how he views the world, but the other day we had a funny little conversation.

Lorenzo: Mom are we buddies?

Me: Sure we are

Lorenzo: Well, do you like spiderman

Me: Sure

Lorenzo: Well, then we cant be buddies because I like batman now.

Me: Oh, so what if I like dinosaurs and you like batman can we still be buddies?

Lorenzo: Yeah I like dinosaurs too so we can be buddies

Me: Ok what if I like strawberry shortcake?  Can we be buddies?

Lorenzo: Mom! That is a bad word. Never say that to me again. Strawberry shortcake is for girls.

I just had to laugh to see the workings of his mind.  Always full of questions and surprises!

i need a do over

Do you ever have a day that you wish you could do over?  That was my day today. Grumpy mom, grumpy wife, grumpy person.  Not impressed with my own behavior.  Guess tomorrow I will try harder.
